Making Better Decisions

Finally, dear brothers and sisters, we urge you in the name of the Lord Jesus to live in a way that pleases God, as we have taught you. You live this way already, and we encourage you to do so even more.
— 1 Thessalonians 4:1

“Dear God, what do you want me to do about...?” Take a moment to fill in blank as you think about the decisions you need to make today.

Christ calls you to be the light of the world (Matthew 5:14) and wants you to make decisions that reflect and shine His light into every aspect of your life. As you grow in Christ, He helps transform the way you think and act. Theologians call this process sanctification which means set apart from worldly values.

Your standard becomes the excellence of Jesus Christ (Mark 7:37). And every day God’s Word helps you adapt His standard in your life. You gain knowledge of His character that transforms your own, apply His wisdom to every choice you make, and deploy keen insight as you discern beyond what you see or hear.

By engaging with God’s Word and going to Him in prayer over the decisions you need to make, you’ll experience a shift in your focus from the choice you need to make to the person you will be after you make your decision.

Prayer

Heavenly Father, thank you for setting me apart for You. Help me bring you glory in everything I do, say, and think so I can fulfill Your purpose in my life. In Jesus’ name I pray.
