Unconditional Love and Grace

and forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors. For if you forgive others their trespasses, your Heavenly Father will also forgive you, but if you do not forgive others their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.
— Matthew 6:12, 14-15

When Jesus taught His disciples to pray, He made sure they knew how important forgiveness and having a personal relationship with our brothers and sisters was. If we forgive others, then God will forgive us but what happens when we find it hard to let go? The Bible says if you don’t forgive others, God will not forgive you but then where does Grace fit into this equation?

God loves you so much that no matter what, He will always, unconditionally forgive you. But with that same grace He so freely gives, you must also give back to the people who offend, speak against, or hurt you. No matter how much they don’t deserve it, God expects us to be more like Him and forgive others regardless.

Today’s Prayer

Father, thank you for the unconditional love and grace you poured out into my life. I pray that I never withhold the same love and grace towards others. In the moments that I do, I pray you bring me the conviction to recognize it and ask for forgiveness. Thank you, Lord, in Jesus’ name I pray.
